We offer internships and grants to a select few of the best students and graduates from top French universities to work on AI safety for 3 to 6 months. The goal is to upskill them so they can do useful research, attend a program such as SERI MATS at Stanford, or join an AI safety org. We expect that ~4 of them will work on technical research, and ~2 on governance. France has among the best researchers in the world (especially in math and CS) but has no AI safety pipeline yet. EffiSciences is the only org focused on building the AI safety field here, aiming to leverage this untapped pool of strong researchers.

EffiSciences is basically the only organization in France presenting AI risk to young AI researchers and helping them start a career in AI safety. I donated because they're funding constrained, and are currently bottlenecked on their capacity to hire generalists who are not tied to a specific project grant.
